We Mourn in Solidarity after Gun Violence in Buffalo, NY and Uvalde, TX

The country is reeling from back to back mass shootings in New York and Texas. The shooting at the TOPS Market in Buffalo left 10 people dead and the predominantly Black community grieving. The racism at the heart of the shooting is alarming. The murder of 19 children and 2 adults, with others still in critical condition, in Uvalde, TX is incomprehensible and hits at the heart of every parent, teacher, friend and relative. It is the largest school shooting since the one in Sandy Hook ten years ago..

Sadly, the Jewish community is well-aware of the longterm, devastating impact of mass shootings. From Pittsburgh to Seattle, our Jewish community knows that hatred, ‘othering’ and access to guns are a deadly combination.

With no action coming from the federal level, it is falling to state elected officials to protect our communities from gun violence and domestic terrorism.

Our hearts are with the communities of Buffalo and Uvalde and those impacted by the wide ripple effects of these mass shootings!
